As high as an armadillo...

a letter from Mrs. Schmidt....kindergarten is so much fun:)

Hi all!

We are continuing to learn facts about Texas this week. Today we read Armadillo Rodeo by Jan Brett. Your kids had great memories and remembered that we read The Hat and The Mitten by her this weekend.
We followed up by researching about armadillos online. We used the Bennett site to find a short entry about armadillos. You might ask your child to show you. They can "color" it online. We learned many things. The students did a super job using the non-fiction language!!!! These are some of the fun new facts they didn't know:
Armadillos have bony, skin coverd armor.
They can be anywhere from 6 in. to 60 inches in length.
They can jump 3 feet straight up!
At recess, we took out the yardstick and tried jumping as high as an armadillo - HARD!!!! Landen and Brooks came the closest! You have a bunch of high jumpers! :)

Have a fabulous evening!
Thanks!

Elizabeth Schmidt
