Happy Birthday Pawpaw!

Yesterday we went to Dimmitt to celebrate Pawpaw's birthday!! Growing up, my mom fried chicken once a year... always on dad's birthday because that is his favorite. So, we had fried chicken and birthday cake - yummy!! Brooks told Boo that Pawpaw needed a John Deere cake just like his so guess what Pawpaw got............... a John Deere cake just like Brooks with a picture of Brooks and Pawpaw!! Pawpaw is 53Brooks turned 3.... John Deere Birthday!

After a wonderful birthday, we headed to "Grandaddy's Gym", the Kenneth Cleveland Gymnasium in Dimmitt to celebrate the last game that will ever be played in that gym. My Grandaddy coached basketball for 32 years in Dimmitt and the gym was named after him in 1993 when he was struck and killed by lightning. He was an amazing man and the best Grandaddy ever!! Dimmitt is building a new Kenneth Cleveland Gymnasium.

They honored all the people that have ever played or coached in the gym..... My dad, my mom, my sister, me and last but not least my Grandaddy and Nanny! It was a very special honor for my family. In all the joys and tears, Brooks had to add a laugh to the night. As you walk in the gym there is a big glass case that has Grandaddy's picture. I was showing Brooks and telling him, "That is Grandaddy that is in heaven" and he said "No it's not momma, it is Nanny's daddy." He knows that Nanny and Grandaddy go together somehow :)
